Lighting Science Group Corporation has hired John Bono to serve as its vice president for strategic accounts. Bono will play an integral role in the management of existing strategic accounts, and the pursuit of new strategic accounts. He will report to Ted Russ, Lighting Science Group’s chief business development officer.
Prior to joining Lighting Science Group, Bono worked for eight years at Acuity Brands Lighting where he was most recently the vice president of utility sales. He was responsible for sales management and utility sales to agencies servicing investor-owned utilities, rural electric co-operatives and municipal electric markets for American Electric Lighting, Dark to Light photocontrols, Holophane, and Remote Operations Asset Management. Prior to his most recent position with Acuity, he was responsible for launching the Strategic Account Management Program at Acuity for the utility market and serving as the program’s director.
Bono started out at PECO Energy where he held various management positions during his twenty year tenure. He eventually came to the lighting arena with Exelon Infrastructure Services (EIS) as general manager of the outdoor lighting operations. He was named director of business development with EIS and served in that position until joining Acuity Brands in 2002.
“I’m confident that John’s tremendous knowledge and experience in the lighting industry will have an immediate and positive impact on our business and make him strategic leader for the company,” said Zach Gibler, chairman and chief executive officer of Lighting Science Group.
John resides in McDonough, GA with his wife and three sons. He currently serves as the vice chair of the Street and Area Lighting Committee for the Illuminating Engineer Society and will take the chairman's role in 2011.
