ZMD AG has introduced ZLED7012 and ZLED7022, the second wave of its ZLED family of LED control solutions, featuring two low-voltage ICs available for battery-powered handheld devices.
Both of the two LED ICs, suit for the ultra-small UTQFN package (2x2mm), and feature low-noise, constant-frequency charge pump DC-DC converters that can drive up to four or six strings of LEDs, respectively. Only three external components are required.
The devices can operate with DC voltage supplies ranging from 2.8V to 5.5V. Designers can enable and disable the LEDs and set the current level using the pulse count control serial digital input. The programmable current levels range from 1.8mA to 20mA per LED channel.
Aside from those features, they also has integrated soft-start circuitry to protect against excessive in-rush current during power-on, a low-current shutdown mode that reduces quiescent current consumption to about 1µA, and a temperature operating range of -40°C to +85°C.
The two products can be used in a wide range of applications, such as mobile phones, PDAs, GPS , navigation systems, digital photo frames, low-voltage LED lighting fixtures, and general-purpose low-voltage industrial and consumer applications.
