OSRAM SYLVANIA, North American lighting leader, announced it has been honored with two Lighting for Tomorrow awards at the American Lighting Association (ALA) annual conference taking place this week.

The winning products, the SYLVANIA ULTRA LED A-line 100-watt replacement lamp and the SYLVANIA ULTRA RT4 LED Recessed Downlight Kit, plus honorable mentions for the SYLVANIA ULTRA LED PAR38 lamp and the SYLVANIA ULTRA LED B10 lamp were the most by any manufacturer.

The SYLVANIA ULTRA LED A-line 100-watt replacement lamp is a long-life, energy efficient alternative to incandescent, halogen and CFL lamps. With robust dimming functionality, this LED A-Line lamp offers a true substitute for 100-watt incandescent lamps while only using 16-watts of energy. Producing 1600 lumens in an omni-directional light distribution pattern, the new ULTRA LED A-Line lamp provides up to 84 percent energy savings over traditional incandescent lamps, while offering excellent color rendering and a long rated lamp life of 25,000 hours. SYLVANIA plans to release this product to the market in Spring of 2012.

The SYLVANIA ULTRA RT4 LED Recessed Downlight Kit includes a four-inch LED recessed downlight with white trim and a convenient medium base socket adapter. Available in both 2700K and 3000K color temperatures, the 9-watt version delivers 550 lumens of light, comparable to a standard 50-watt incandescent R20 light bulb. An internal LED light engine provides quality white light, high energy-efficiency and superior optical design, significantly improving the appearance of ceiling lighting in traditional and contemporary homes.  The long life of the recessed light will save consumers countless trips up the ladder to change out traditional recessed light bulbs.

Now in its ninth year, the Lighting for Tomorrow competition is organized by the ALA, the Consortium for Energy Efficiency and the U.S. Department of Energy to stimulate the market for attractive, energy-efficient lighting products for the residential market and are among the lighting industry's highest honors. 

Also recognized with Honorable Mentions in the Lighting for Tomorrow awards competition were the SYLVANIA ULTRA LED B10 lamp and the SYLVANIA ULTRA LED PAR38 lamp . The ULTRA LED B10 lamp preserves the light and sparkle of incandescent B10 bulbs to enhance the classic beauty of chandelier fixtures. Utilizing only 3.5W, this dimmable bulb provides 150 lumens equivalent to a 25W incandescent product.  The ULTRA LED PAR38 lamps are suitable for indoor and outdoor use and offer exceptional color quality with a CRI of 90+ and 1650 lumens with passive cooling. Like the rest of the SYLVANIA ULTRA LED line, these lamps offer dimming functionality, energy savings of 70 to 80 percent and last 10 to 20 times longer than halogen or incandescent lamps.  The B10 has a fall 2011 planned launch and the PAR38 is scheduled for release in 2012.
