Signify Completes Acquisition of Cooper Lighting Solution and Expands Solar Lighting with Its Hybrid Charging Technology

Signify announced that it has completed the acquisition of Cooper Lighting Solutions from Eaton on March 2, which follows the schedule set by the two companies. Signify also introduced its new integrated charge controller which enable solar-powered lighting.

Signify reported the purchase of Cooper Lighting Solutions from Eaton in October 2019 for US$ 1.4 billion with the aim to strengthen its market position in the North American lighting market.

Meanwhile, the Dutch company launched the new integrated Philips Combo Charge Controller which enables the emergence of hybrid solar systems. These enable streetlights to use clean solar-powered electricity when there is sunshine and the mains grid at other times. This is expected to open up new markets for solar-powered lighting. Adding to the many countries in Asia, Africa, South America, Australia and Spain, where Signify has already installed solar lighting.

The new combo charge controller is also able to boost the output of solar streetlights to 24,000 lumens and supports wireless remote monitoring functionality. The new technology will be integrated into all the solar lighting products Signify is launching this year.

The new products not only dedicated to sustainability by pushing the utilization of solar power, it also improve road safety and transform life in rural communities where the electricity grid is not connected.
