Walsin Lihwa Starts Mass Production in Shanxi LED Venture

Sources inform that recently, Walsin Lihwa Corp. has kicked off volume production at an LED-epitaxy venture in Shanxi Province, mainland China.

According to the company,the venture is designed to have annual output of 150,000 4-inch epitaxy wafers with 20 MOCVD chambers, estimated to bring in Walsin Lihwa around NT$1.3-1.5 billion (US$43-50 million at US$1:NT$30) in revenue a year.
 
Walsin Lihwa has spent around US$127 million on the investment of the venture. And the company will see return from its investment in LED industry over the next one to two years according to industry executives.

Additionally,it’s said that the company had signed an agreement with the administration of the Xian Hi-Tech Industries Development Zone, where the LED venture is a tenant, to jointly promote solar-module investments in the park.
