Xiaomi has been expanding its high-end TV portfolio with the launch of its transparent TV series based on OLED technology announced in August and the latest update of Mini LED backlit TVs.
Other than 8K, 5G and Mini LED technology, the Chinese company has yet revealed details of the new products before the official launch.
Chinese TV brands are proactive players in adopting Mini LED backlight display technology for its products, aiming to take a step ahead other competitors in South Korea and Japan. TCL has released new Mini LED backlit TV lineup in August and Xiaomi comes right behind with two new models under the Mi TV Master series.
Mini LED backlight is regarded as the first phase of applying miniaturized LEDs for display technology. With local dimming technology it could enhance the performance of LCD display, making it more compatible with OLED. It is also paving the way for Mini LED and Micro LED self-emitting displays, which are believed to be game changers for the LED industry.
However, with Chinese companies and manufacturers marching into the technology with cheap prices backed by China government subsidies, technology developers from other countries may begin to encounter challenges even before they recover from research cost.
