Samsung shows a 38-inch microLED monitor prototype

News Source:

An interesting video surfaced, showing a small (reportedly 38-inch) microLED monitor prototype by Samsung, shown at a trade show:

We do not have any more information, but this is an interesting demo by Samsung. It is estimated that the monitor has a resolution of FHD (1920x1080), if Samsung is using the same tiles as the ones used in its TVs. It could be that this is not a tiled display, but we simply do not know at this stage.

It is likely that microLED monitors are sill years away from commercial viability. Samsung Electronics recently launched its microLED TV lineup in China, with the lowest cost model (76-inch) priced at $90,000. While reducing the size and resolution will of course make it cheaper, producing a microLED monitor will still be extremely expensive and not likely something that Samsung intends to do in the near future.

Samsung also has plans to commercialize a wearable microLED display, and according to reports its 2025 release target may get delayed.
