[Update] Osram Parts with General Lighting Businesses to Focus on Specialty Lighting

In a statement, Osram highlighted lighting businesses affected include Classic Lamps & Ballasts (CLB) business unit and the LED Lamps and Systems (LLS) business segment, which covers LED lamps, light engines as well as LED drivers. The company's Lighting Solution LED business also falls under the LLS umbrella.

The company’s Lighting Solution LED business generated a revenue share of 58% in fourth quarter of 2014, according to LEDinside analysts understanding. Promotions have also boosted the company’s smart lighting product revenue growth, said a source familiar with the matter.

Osram Opto, a subsidiary which manufactures LED chip, LED package, laser diodes, smart displays, and IR sensor products, will remain unaffected, according to the source.

The company has not disclosed its Specialty LED business revenue shares. The Specialty LED business covers Osram's automotive lighting business including laser automotive lights, said the source.
