Polytronics sees thermal conductive boards for LED backlights as a key growth driver

Recently, Circuit protection device maker Polytronics Technology estimated its sales in 4Q10 to decrease 15%, but it would be a smaller drop compared to in the same time last year.

In October, the company’s consolidated revenues was NT$106 million (US$3.5 million), down 15.6% on month but up 17.3% on year. In the first ten month of 2010, its consolidated sales were NT$1.17 billion, up 46.5% from the same period of 2009.

In 3Q10, Polytronics' consolidated gross margin went up to 53.57%, compared to 48.9% in 2Q and 47.5% in 1Q. Consolidated revenues were NT$392 million, of which 80% came from sales of polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) resistors and the remainder from thermal conductive boards.

In the future, the company thought SMD-type PPTC products for Smartphone batteries and thermal conductive boards for LED backlights were key growth drivers.
