[News] CHI Health Center Omaha Refreshes Digital Video Experience with Daktronics Displays

News Source:

CHI Health Center Omaha, part of the Metropolitan Entertainment & Convention Authority (MECA) of Omaha, Nebraska, has selected Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, to design, manufacture and install 37 LED displays throughout the venue ahead of the 2025 fall sports seasons. The project includes a five-display centerhung configuration, the first to feature 2.5-millimeter pixel spacing on every display in the centerhung. The displays are operated by Show Control with Camino to deliver a memorable game-day experience.

“At MECA, we strive to always bring the latest and best technology to our patrons,” said Roger Dixon, MECA CEO/President. “We're confident these latest installments will enhance every sports fan's experience and will continue to make CHI Health Center Omaha one of the best sporting venues in Nebraska and the Midwest.”

Centerhung Display Details
The centerhung features a continuous main display measuring roughly 20 feet high by 100 feet around and four underbelly displays each measuring nearly 6 feet high by 16.5 feet wide. The underbelly displays are angled toward the sides of the court to appeal to fans sitting closer to the action. Each display in the centerhung features a 2.5-millimeter pixel spacing to deliver crisp, clear imagery.

The main display and underbelly displays are capable of variable content zoning allowing each to show one large image or to be divided into multiple zones. These zones can show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics and game information, graphics and animations, or sponsorship messages.

“We are excited to once again partner with CHI Health Center Omaha on this exciting technology refresh,” said Matt Warke, Daktronics sales representative. “They continue to push the technology envelope with the installation of the first continuous 2.5-millimeter centerhung. From the moment you park your car until you’re sitting in your seat, you will be immersed in an improved digital experience. We look forward to seeing this new installation at upcoming events.”

Additional Display Details
At the south end of the arena, an end wall video display measures 5.9-millimeter pixel spacing and measures 14 feet high by 36 feet wide. This display can show supplemental video and graphics information to the main displays for another view of all the important game-day information.

Each side of the arena features its own ribbon display, a long and narrow display mounted to the seating fascia. The north ribbon measures 2.5 feet high by 180 feet wide. The south ribbon measures 2.5 feet high by 164 feet wide. The east and west ribbons each measure 2.5 feet high by 262.5 feet wide.

Four vomitory displays are mounted about entrances and exits of the seating bowl. Each measures 2.5 feet high by 20 feet wide.

These ribbons and vomitory displays all feature 5.9-millimeter pixel spacing and each are capable of sharing additional graphics with the opportunity to highlight sponsors throughout events or be coordinated with the main displays for large moments of exclusivity with every display showing content to highlight a single moment during an event.

Closer to the action, 16 courtside scorers tables were installed. Each of these displays measures 2.5 feet high by nearly 10 feet wide and each features 3.9-millimeter pixel spacing. These can show additional statistics, graphics and information to complete the game-day experience in the seating bowl. They can be arranged in any configuration to meet the needs of the event and the venue.

Exterior Display Details
Outside the venue, a marquee display is installed on 10th Street to promote upcoming events and connect with audiences as they arrive at the arena. It measures 10 feet high by 14 feet high and features an 8-millimeter pixel spacing.

Additionally, six parking lot displays were installed to help with traffic flow in and out of the arena district. Each measures 2 feet high by 11 feet wide and features an 8-millimeter pixel spacing.

Daktronics is also including a complete Show Control solution including Camino with this installation. This industry-leading control system provides a combination of display control software, world-class video processing, data integration and playback hardware that forms a powerful yet user-friendly production solution. The addition of Camino to the control system will provide a new level of functionality to create dynamic, real-time rendered content never before possible in a Daktronics system.

Camino opens up creative possibilities to display visuals in a 2D/3D space, incorporating data-based logic to automate production elements, and developing timelines within a single piece of content so it can react in real time as the event unfolds.

In addition to the equipment installation, CHI Health Center Omaha will receive a content package to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services, an in-house, award-winning creative team.

Daktronics has grown with the sports industry from the company’s beginnings in 1968. Today, the company has integrated LED super systems in more than 50% of all professional sports facilities in the United States and Canada.
