SID Spotlight: Porotech's World's First Active Matrix Full-Color MicroLED Display Wins "Best New Display Component" Award

Porotech, a global leader in MicroLED and gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor technology innovation, unveiled the world's first 0.26-inch active matrix full-color Micro LED display at the 2023 SID Display Week event. Through the votes and evaluations of professional attendees and judges, Porotech's display stood out among hundreds of cutting-edge products and was honored with the "Best New Display Component" award.

During the SID exhibition, held in Los Angeles from May 24th to 26th, 2023, Porotech showcased its unique DPT® (Dynamic Pixel Tuning®) technology. By using a single pixel combined with specific driving techniques, this technology eliminates the need for traditional RGB color stacking. It enables rapid switching between primary colors, resulting in vibrant and saturated full-color displays. In addition to demonstrating applications such as 0.12-inch, 0.26-inch, 0.39-inch and 0.55-inch monochrome displays, AR glasses, 7.5-inch transparent screens, and flexible displays, the highlight of Porotech's booth was undoubtedly the world's first 0.26-inch active matrix full-color Micro LED display. Unlike conventional LEDs, this display can deliver perfect full-color imagery on a single screen, impressing visitors throughout the entire event. This incredible new technology was unsurprisingly honored with the "Best New Display Component" People’s Choice Award.

Porotech's founder and CEO, Tongtong Zhu, expressed: "We are extremely honored to receive this significant recognition for our development in DPT technology, but our journey does not stop here. Our future goal is to leverage DPT technology to reduce the cost and barriers of MicroLED mass production while exploring further possibilities in display technology."

In 2022, Porotech unveiled the world's first InGaN red LED display in the SID I-Zone exhibition area, receiving the “Best Prototype” Award. In 2023, debuting the world's first 0.26-inch active matrix full-color Micro LED display, Porotech again achieved the distinction of "Best New Display Component," making it a highly anticipated rising star in the display industry. These consecutive annual awards at the industry's largest event demonstrate Porotech's potential for advanced applications such as AR, VR, and wearable displays, as well as demonstrating this new technology’s capabilities to disrupt the display industry as a whole.

Porotech welcomes collaboration with potential partners and customers to jointly develop and design single-chip full-color Micro LED displays, projectors and light engines for next-generation AR glasses, or any other display applications utilizing Porotech's DPT® technology.
