Samsung to Launch Foldable Phones by 2015

Samsung Electronics CEO Kwon Oh Hyun promised that the company will be delivering foldable phones by 2015 during the company’s Analyst Day, according to reports by Engadget and GottaBeMobile. com. The Engadget report noted Galaxy Round was an “incremental nudge” towards this development, and the flexible phone concept can be further expanded into wearable electronic gadgets that the company has high interest in.

GottaBeMobile analyzed the foldable phones could mean in the near future electronics can be larger in size and more portable. The boundaries between smartphones, tablets and phablets will also be further blurred and eroded as the foldable technology takes flight. In the product concept video above, Samsung demonstrates dual usage for the foldable device, in which it can be used as a smartphone and tablet.

Below is a graph from Sammy Hub that outlines how Samsung will be approaching this tech development.
