Latest Generation of PAR30-Style LED Spotlight Bulbs

LEDtronics announced its latest generation of PAR30-Style LED spotlight bulbs. The PAR30 LED bulb is made up of five three-Watt high-power LEDs. PAR30 LED bulbs are direct incandescent PAR30 replacements, combining advanced Light Emitting Diode (LED) technologies, standard 25mm Edison screw-in bases, and light optimizing designs producing 480 to 544 lumens of vivid light depending on the bulb model. LED bulbs in traffic signals save electricity

Environmentally friendly LED bulbs are being installed in traffic lights at the city's 605 intersections. They won't save commuters time during rush hour, but officials say the upgrade will save the city about $325,000 a year. "It's going to allow us to save 80 percent on our electric bill," said Patrick Hassett, assistant director of Pittsburgh's Public Works Department. "It's a no-brainer."

B/E Aerospace was reportedly selected by a leading global airline to provide first class suites for the airline's wide body fleet. The company was awarded a $200 million contract to retrofit the airline's existing international wide-body fleets and to outfit their new wide-body aircraft with Super First Class suites. Carmanah to Supply New Jersey Lottery With LED-Illuminated Signage

On March 3, 2008, Carmanah Technologies Corporation announced a two-year contract to supply the State of New Jersey's Lottery Division with LED edge-lit signage. The contract, valued at up to $500,000, extends from March 1, 2008 until February 28, 2010. Visitors at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, Arkansas, will have a bright canvas to paint on: a 14 foot-long interactive LED wall installed by Philips Electronics as a gift to the new hospital.Named the "Imagination Light Canvas," the display has 1,420 touch-sensitive pixel elements, letting visitors finger-paint with light. Martin Schubert, a doctoral student at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., has won the $30,000 Lemelson-Rensselaer Prize for his work on light-emitting diodes, or LEDs. Schubert developed a new, polarized type of LED that could allow their widespread use as light sources for liquid-crystal displays in televisions, computers, cell phones and other devices.

The Old North Church, a beacon for Paul Revere's famous warning of the movement of British forces, and a symbol of the American Revolution, has gone high-tech with the installation of light-emitting diodes, or LEDs. The energy-efficient lights illuminate ceiling vaults inside the church, whose steeple was used to display two lanterns as a signal about British troop movements on April 18, 1775 — the night described in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's famous poem, which included the line: "One if by land, and two if by sea."

The "Design-Build studio" teamed up with the tech whizzes from Evil Mad Scientist Laboratories to create an LED Coffee Table dubbed The Wave. They fitted the table with 480 bright LED lights, along with 32 near infrared optical sensors. The result is a surface that reacts to any motion by following it with a cascade of glowing light.
