The Pixelate lamp, designed by Pablo Alvarez for Birot OLED Lighting, is a hanging OLED fixture that was inspired by the undulated movements of the manta ray as it glides through the water.

The fixture is completely made by hand, combining several layers of steel weaved together to form a modern chrome finish mixed with LED lighting panels. The lamp uses Philips Lumiblade OLED panels, which are only 3.3mm in width, to create an ultra-thin design.

Each OLED panel has an independent movement, the light can directed slightly to the sides or entirely upwards. The user can also rapidly shift between direct and indirect light. (photo couresty of Pablo Avarez http:// Philips Lumiblade) |
Pixelate is not a stagnant fixture, but is able to move and change shape. The interactive design allows users to change the form, shape, and size of the fixture however they like. This makes it an ideal addition to any lighting project.
