The 800 lumens or 60W equiv. LED bulb is capable of learning and assimilating user’s lighting habits, when set on “away mode” using a smartphone. The bulb can detect a ringing doorbell and deter burglars by turning on lights to give the false impression of a person’s presence in the house.

The bulb relies on Bluetooth connectivity and has an in-built microphone to pick up the sound of doorbells.
An additional feature of the smart LED bulb is it has backup power, so it can stay on even during a blackout. The bulb is also integrated with fire alarm systems so it can act as emergency lights in case of a fire. The BeOn bulb has attracted 194 backers and raised US $51,113 out of its goal of US $100,000 on Kickstarter. The company hopes to deliver the lights by July 2015.
