Canadian City Calgary to Launch Second Phase of LED Streetlight Upgrade Project

Calgary, located in Alberta, Canada plans to launch the second phase of its LED streetlight retrofit project to replace high pressure sodium lights, according to a report by CBCnews.

The city has already installed 2,500 LED lights in five communities including Altadore, Douglasdale, Brentwood, Marlborough and Tuxedo Park.

Another 77,500 streetlights still need to be upgraded to LED, and installations are expected to be completed by 2018.

The city estimates the LED luminaires will be able to reduce streetlight electricity consumption by 55%.
