Google created Motion Sense to detect users hand motions based on its technology from Project Soli. The technology allows user operate the device simply by swiping or waving hands in front of it Instead of touching or holding the phone. This function was achieved thanks to Infineon’s radar chip. The German semiconductor company announced that it has developed a 60 GHz radar chip incorporating a complete radar system with integrated antenna system to sense the presence and movement of objects.
The chip is only 5 x 6.5 mm big with low power consumption but is able to perceive movements and measure distances from objects in the millimeter range with precision.
At the same time, the new phone also equips face unlock based on active stereo cameras and Google’s software. Integrated with structured light technology and advanced computing technology, facial identification is further enhanced. The face unlock can process even when the device is not directly placed in front of the face. The sensing components of Pixel 4 come from ams.
