LG Targets to Manufacture 55 inch OLED LCD TV

Reportedly, LG has started to manufacture its 8th generation OLED TV fab in Paju, South Korea, expecting to replace all LED backlights with OLED equivalents in LCD TVs.   This latest OLED panel handles 400 ppi, providing superior contrast and brightness compared to LED-LCD equivalents. According to a statement from South Korea fine chemical company KCC, it is about to inject 2 trillion won ($1.8 billion) through 2015 to produce components for LED and solar batteries. Nova Scotia of Canada Considers about Replacing Street Lights for LEDs

LEDinside points out due to the fact that, unlike semiconductor manufacturing process, the manufacturing process in LED industry is mostly regarding chemical reactions and is shockproof, the effects caused by the earthquake are limited. The two leading LED manufacturers in Japan – Nichia and Toyoda Gosei are far from the disaster area in northeast Japan. Waverly Light and Power is replacing high-pressure sodium lights with LED bulbs as part of a citywide project, targeting to benefit the environment and economy.
