Nexxus Lighting, Inc. has released its sales revenue of second quarter 2010. The company revenue increases by 43% to $3.7 million compared to the prior year quarter. Gross profit increased to $873,000 on higher sales volume, compared to $650,000 in Q2 2009. Nexxus pointed out that the sales of LED products accounted for 84% Nexxus’ revenue in Q2 2010, versus 74% last year.

Samsung has announced three new 3D TVs in the US, one of which is the world’s largest 3D LED TV. The set uses LED technology, has a 65-inch screen, Precision Dimming technology, 240Hz refresh rate technology, dynamic 8,000,000:1 contrast ratio and WiFi capabilities. Samsung claims that it costs $6000 and will be available later in August this year.

Veeco Instruments Inc. announced that Elec-Tech International has selected its TurboDisc(R) K465i MOCVD systems as their "tool of choice" for two new LED factories in Wuhu and Yangzhou, China. In August Veeco booked the initial systems from a large multi-tool purchase order from Elec-Tech's LED subsidiary, Elec-Tech Optoelectronic Technology (Wuhu) Co., Ltd.

AIXTRON AG announced a substantial multiple order for additional MOCVD tools from Yangzhou Longyao, a LED manufacturing company in Yangzhou, PR China. Yangzhou Longyao is a subsidiary of Rainbow Optoelectronics Material Shanghai Co. Ltd., China, a long time customer of AIXTRON MOCVD equipment.

Compared with traditional HID street lights, Lighting Science Group (LSG)'s high performance PROLIFIC series street lights, which are 50% more efficient, provide more uniform light distribution, increase light levels, now line the streets of Banyeres de Mariola Alicante, Spain. Collaboration will strengthen market penetration in Asia, Europe and US Oree Inc., developer of LED planar illumination technology, announced today that it has secured an investment from Epistar Corporation, Taiwan’s largest manufacturer of LED chips. The revenue for LED chip manufacturers in July reached 4.97 billion NTD, up 7.6% from June. The revenue for LED package manufacturers in July amounted to 5.88 billion NTD, down 1.1% from June.

SemiLEDs Corporation, which specializes in blue, UV, and green LED chips, has filed for an Initial Public Offering. The firm registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to raise up to $173 million in shares. The firm has a history of 5 years and has booked $29 million in sales for the 12 months ended May 31.And it intends to list on the NASDAQ under the symbol LEDS.

Cree announced its annual revenue and annual net income. Its record revenue has achieved to $264.6 million for its fourth quarter of fiscal 2010, ended June 27, 2010. Compared to revenue of $148.1 million reported for the fourth fiscal quarter last year, it increase by 79% and compared to the third quarter of fiscal 2010, it increase by 13%. GAAP net income for the fourth quarter increased 445% year-over-year to $52.8 million, or $0.48 per diluted share.

AIXTRON AG announced an order for three mass production MOCVD systems for GaN HB-LED production from the INCOTEX Group, a new AIXTRON customer in Bulgaria. INCOTEX placed the order in the first quarter of 2010 and the systems will be delivered from the third quarter of 2010 onwards. The local AIXTRON Europe support team will commission the new reactors at the company’s purposebuilt facility in Bulgaria.
