Waikato, New Zealand has played a national competition, which was part of the RightLight campaign to promote the purchasers of energy efficient light bulbs to enter the prize draw. Craig Benton, of St Andrews, Hamilton, who was a Waikato resident ,has won $10,000 energy efficiency home makeover by purchasing three different efficiency light bulbs in this competition.
It's reported that the first part of his prize will be a home efficiency audit, which will identify a range of energy saving options for Mr Benton to spend his prize on.

The system works through a wireless controller that clips on to the handlebars. The rider can flick a switch to say they intend to turn and which way. The backpack also outputs a flashing stop sign when the bike stops, and displays a range of different shapes and messages as you ride.

ED packager Harvatek recently entered the supply chain for TV backlighting, and inventory adjustments by TV vendors had less affected on it. The company expected its September revenues will reach NT$400 million (US$12.67 million) and 3Q revenues got over NT$1 billion benefit from Japan-based TV vendors’ orders.
In Harvatek’s revenues, handset business accounted for about 40-45% and lighting business accounted for about 15%, over 20% for IT (notebook and monitor) products.

Recently, LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker Genesis Photonics has began construction for its joint venture with the Kunshan city government in China.
The first stage engineering of the joint venture will host 50 sets of MOCVD machines. In the new factory, Genesis has held 51% stake, and Kunshan city government has held the other stake.
The new factory will start production in Q3 of 2011 and will be the largest LED chip and lighting manufacturing base in China.

Sunovia Energy, manufacturer of LED lighting products, announced that DePaul University has installed its high-performance EvoLucia LED lights. The university replaced 210 W metal halide lights with 90 W EvoLucia LEDs in the Sheffield parking garage at Lincoln Park campus.

AIXTRON AG announced a new order for six new generation CRIUS II 55x2-inch configuration deposition systems from existing customer Genesis Photonics Inc. The Taiwan based company placed the order during the second quarter of 2010.
