Overview of OPIE’15

Top professional and technologically advanced manufacturers in laser, IR and UV sector attended OPIE’15, which took place at Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama, Japan from April 22-24, 2015.

The show this consisted of six major expos: LASER Expo, LENS Expo, Optical Measurement and Positioning Expo, IR+UV Expo, Medical & Imaging EXPO and Space & Astronomical Optics Expo.

Most manufacturers that attended the show last year were laser, lens or infrared (IR) or ultraviolet (UV) manufacturers, according to the exhibition organizer Messago Messe Frankfurt’s 2014 show report. The main aim of participants at the show was to gather information on latest technology advancements and purchase products. Manufacturers’ satisfaction ratings for the show was reportedly as high as 87%, indicating it was a leading technology development show.

Main manufacturers that attended the IR+UV EXPO included the world’s second largest UVA manufacturer Nitride Semicondutors, Japanese manufacturers U-Vix and Epitex, as well as Taiwanese UV and IR lighting manufacturers HPLighting and PlayNitride.

Major lens manufacturers that attended the show included Fujifilm, Laser Concierge, Nippo, and Japan Cell.

The first day of the show’s forum was focused on laser optical theory and IR applications. Academics and specialists explained the wide range and diverse IR testing and detection applications including for food quality, health, and pipelines.
