TILS and LED Taiwan 2016 Bridging the Supply Chain and Showcasing Business Opportunities for Smart Lighting!

The 4-day Taiwan International Lighting Show and LED Taiwan 2016 held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center formally started today (April 13). The Bureau of Foreign Trade, Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), and Taiwan Lighting Fixture Export Association jointly organized the Taiwan International Lighting Show (TILS). Meanwhile, TAITRA and SEMI Taiwan also joined forces for the third time to host LED Taiwan. These exhibits attracted a total of 238 exhibitors and companies from 9 countries and provided a total of 748 stalls, making it the largest and most professional exhibit in Taiwan for professional illumination technologies and applications. It is expected to attract 16,000 visitors, professionals, and potential buyers.

This would be the 7th time that TILS was held. Vice President Wu Den-yih once again attended the event in person to provide his address for the opening ceremony. Vice President Wu highlighted the government’s high expectations for the LED lighting industry. He has initiated the Mercury Road Lighting Replacement Project since 2014 with the aim of completely replacing all mercury road lighting with LEDs by the end of 2016. Last year (2015), the government also formulated the Consultation Project for Industrial Transformation and Innovative Platforms theme-based R&D projects, offering support for various applications to promote the LED smart artificial lighting industry. The goal was to leverage Taiwan’s advantages in the optoelectronics, electronics, information, communication, and green industries to develop new LED smart artificial lighting services and systems, encourage industrial transformation and upgrades, create new employment opportunities, and improve the national competitiveness of the relevant industries.

Director Jen-Ni Yang of Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs, mentioned that the government is promoting "Green Trade Action Plan" this year to integrate green market research, green expertise, as well as foreign resources, build up Taiwan's overall green image, enhance the proportion of exports of related products and services, and promote Taiwan into East Asia green trading platform. LED lighting is one of the key plans. TAITRA President & CEO Peter WJ Huang pointed out that the 2 exhibits of TILS and LED Taiwan provide prospective local and overseas customers with a one-stop purchasing and exchange platform. The exhibits are expected to attract 1,000 potential foreign buyers as well as 15,000 business owners and representatives from Taiwan. SEMI Taiwan CEO Terry Cao expressed that LED Taiwan and TILS both provide comprehensive showcases demonstrating the ecology of the LED industry that range from the production phase to the final product. Mr. Cao hoped that professional exhibits like these could act as a focal point of industrial and academic resources, create potential opportunities for LED-based products, and demonstrate Taiwan’s first-rate R&D capabilities.

Nan Ya Photonics Inc., Epistar Corporation, Forest Lighting, China Electric MFG.
