NEPCON JAPAN 2018: A Peek into New Trends in the Electronics Industry

NEPCON JAPAN 2018, the largest exposition for electronics manufacturing and R&D technologies in Asia, started today (January 17, 2018) at Tokyo Big Sight. The three-day show has grown larger with approximately 2,600 Japanese and overseas exhibitors presenting their advancements in both the East and West Exhibition Halls this year. The number of attendees is anticipated to hit 127,000. The show is ready to witness Asia’s first large-scale dialogue between tech companies in 2018.

Having runned for 47 years, NEPCON JAPAN 2018 opens curtains with 7 concurrent shows including WEARABLE EXPO, RoboDEX Expo, SMART FACTORY Expo, and AUTOMOTIVE WORLD, covering important topics in the automotive industry such as automotive electronics, connected car, autonomous driving, EV/HEV/FCV, lightweight and processing technology, etc.

The electronics industry has become highly integrated with more close collaborations between companies in all sorts of fields. Because of that, NEPCON JAPAN 2018 also includes LED & LASER DIODE TECHNOLOGY EXPO, formerly known as Lighting Japan, that exhibit applications across LD, LED lighting, automotive LED, UV LED, IR LED, Micro LED, sensor technology, heat dissipation technology, component inspection, and substrate materials.

A few debuts will also be announced: 1) a super thin and flexible LED display from Japan-based LOCREA, 2) automatic VCSEL inspection equipment from Disc Inspection Technology, and 3) RGB Micro LED chips from GENELITE.

There will be up to 350 conferences at NEPCON JAPAN discussing AI, 5G communication technology, autonomous vehicle, IoT, and Micro LED mass transfer technology. Heavyweight speakers are going to share insights on those most-talked about topics. Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corp., Intel, IBM, and NVIDIA will present their solutions for AI technology, while Foxconn’s eLux will introduce its proprietary fluidic assembly for the mass transfer of Micro LED.  

According to official information, NEPCON JAPAN has been following the development of electronics design and manufacturing technologies both in Japan and around Asia and serving as a one-stop trading platform for Asia’s electronics industry. It has even added technologies regarding automobile, wearable devices, robots, and Smart Factory on the list in recent years, which attracts professionals from China, Taiwan, Korea, Europe, America, and the Middle East to join the activities.
