ITRI Showcases Intelligent UV LED Water Sterilizer at IFA

The Taiwanese research institution, ITRI, has participated in IFA, the tradeshow for consumer electronics and home applications held in Berlin, Germany, to demonstrate its innovative technology applications. ITRI has introduced several intelligent living products including Companion Robots, Pesticide Residue Detection Technology and an Intelligent UV Direct Drinking Water Sterilizer.

The Intelligent UV Direct Drinking Water Sterilizer developed by ITRI is featured with its automatically activated UVC LEDs which are turned on only when the water flow is detected. The automatic function can save up to 50 percent of power usage. Meanwhile, the UVC LEDs can wipe out 99.9% of bacteria in the water for disinfecting drinking water. The water sterilizer can be installed on the outlet of water and is convenient to use with its instant switch function. It can also be integrated with water filter systems and connected with IoT networks to manage the safety of direct drinking water.

ITRI presented its Pesticide Residue Detection Technology which features micro optical spectrum detection and dynamic degradative algorithm, providing a solution to household detection of pesticide residues while washing vegetables and fruits. The technology can detect the specific spectrum generated by the pesticide residue in the water to indicate if the remaining volume of pesticide falls within the safety range. Products applying this technology are expected to launch by the end of this year.
