For the 10th time, the EHI Retail Institute has presented the retail technology awards europe (reta) at the EuroShop 2017 trade fair to honour the best IT solutions in retailing. Three equally-ranked award winners were selected in four categories. The Swiss company Bollag-Guggenheim AG won the award for “best-in-store solution”. By using retail analytics and beacon technology, it has generated real added value at the POS. The retailer uses the digital technologies of Osram and its software partner beaconsmind.

Bollag-Guggenheim, which operates GUESS, Marc O’Polo and the Gallery stores in Switzerland, uses location-based services (LBS) as part of its digitalization. When customers enter a stationary store, they receive a personalized welcome and special deals as rewards for their brand loyalty via a digital customer card, implemented as a smartphone app. This process is supported by the beacon technology of Osram Einstone. Osram's beacon modules are directly linked to the lighting installation and continuously receive power as a result. In the process, Bollag-Guggenheim profits from a lowmaintenance, high-performance beacon infrastructure. The company also gains comprehensive information about the buying habits of its customers at the point-of-sale. This is where beaconsmind, the software partner of Osram, comes in. It provides the retailer with a web-based data-management and marketing suite in addition to the mobile application. With the help of the link to existing POS/CRM systems, Bollag-Guggenheim can clearly and transparently manage data produced by all sales channels.
