USAI Lighting Clinches Two Awards In Next Generation Luminaires Competition

USAI® Lighting’s Color Select® and Max Output® product families were among those earning awards in the Next Generation Luminaires™ (NGL) Solid State Lighting (SSL) Design Competition, sponsored by the United States Department of Energy (DOE), the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA), and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). Color Select and Max Output were among 266 entries in this year’s competition, which promotes excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED luminaires for commercial lighting applications. The 61 NGL award winners were judged on criteria that included color quality, power quality, serviceability & replacement, glare control, light distribution, and aesthetic appearance & style.

Color Select is a proprietary LED technology that offers the widest range of tunable white light in the architectural lighting market with independent control of color temperature and intensity. Available in USAI’s BeveLED 2.0 and BeveLED mini fixtures, it can be adjusted from a candlelight-like 2200K to a 6000K that’s comparable to daylight, and from 100 percent down to one percent using either standard roomside dimmers or programmable control systems. By mimicking the sun’s cycle in one seamless fixture, Color Select reinforces circadian rhythms, increases alertness, matches different décor styles, and offers personalized lighting at any time.

Max Output technology takes LED performance and intensity to unprecedented levels, outperforming compact fluorescent and HID sources. USAI’s BeveLED 2.0 Max Output fixture delivers over 3,000 lumens at 36W (89 lm/W) from a small 4.5" aperture, while still supporting a wide range of dimming, housing, and trim options. The company’s BeveLED 5.0 Max Output ups the ante with maximum delivered lumens of 5675 at 80W (70 lm/W) while maintaining a 2-Step MacAdam's ellipse, making color-consistent, maintenance-free lighting possible for high ceiling spaces using a 6" aperture.

“USAI Lighting is thrilled that these flexible lighting solutions have been recognized for combining state-of-the-art color technology, optical design and superior performance,” said Bonnie Littman, President and CEO of USAI Lighting. “USAI Lighting remains dedicated to staying ahead of the technology curve and designing products that solve the most complex challenges faced by specifiers today.”

The NGL RECOGNIZED recipients were officially honored today during The LED Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This was the fourth consecutive year that USAI products had picked up NGL awards, and it’s the second time this year that Color Select and Max Output products have been honored, as they were chosen for the Architectural SSL Product Innovation Awards announced in February.
