ERG introduces two new compact FFC-compatible LED backlit drivers

LCD backlit power specialist Endicott Research Group (ERG) is offering two new LED driver boards that provide compact, economical solutions to OEM panel designers looking to get the maximum performance out of their displays.



The new SFDK Series is a high-efficiency, dual-output driver board with connectors on both sides of the PCB. It provides a plug-and-play solution with an outstanding cost/performance ratio for powering LED BLUs in LCDs up to 22” diagonal. The SFDK offers FPC (flat panel compatible) headers in addition to the standard wire-to-board connections, with the interface between the driver and panel consisting of 0.5 mm flat flex cable (FFC) with 6, 8, 10, or 12 positions, depending on the display. It has a maximum current of 320 mA and can power up to 8 LED strings at a maximum of 4 on each side.

The SFDK has an extremely low profile (<8 mm high) and a compact size – 1.15” (29.2 mm) x 4.59” (116.5 mm). It provides brightness stability over a wide input voltage (10-20V, with 5V available), external PWM dimming to 500:1, and is compatible with a number of OEM LED-backlit panels.

ERG’s SFD2E LED driver is a new version of ERG’s compact SFDE driver (E for economical) that packs high power into a compact board. Ideal for high-power, high-brightness LED BLUs used in LCDs in the 10.4” – 24” diagonal range, it can efficiently drive up to 8 LED strings from one output at a maximum current of 480 mA. It features a wide input voltage design (8-20V), external PWM dimming to 500:1 and onboard dimming to 255:1. The SFD2E measures 1.115” (28.32 mm) wide x 4.585” (116.5 mm) long, with a low profile of less than 10 mm. It is available with a J12 output connector that is FFC/FPC compatible. The SFD2E is designed for compatibility with a variety of OEM LCD panels

Both the SFDK and SFD2E Series driver boards are designed, manufactured and supported in the USA, with a one-year warranty. Pricing for the SFDK Series is approx. $20 in production quantities. Pricing for the SFD2E Series is approx. $20 in production quantities. Delivery is typically 4-6 weeks A.R.O.
