China Solid State Lighting Alliance: Strengthen Cross-Strait Cooperation to Achieve New Development Opportunities - LEDforum2009 Report (3)

On Nov, 25th at the LEDforum 2009, Dr. Ruan Jun, Deputy Secretary General of China Solid State Lighting Alliance, made a speech on the cross-strait industrial cooperation between mainland China and Taiwan. Under the principle of establishing mutual trust, seeking common grounds and creating a win-win situation, the two sides will work together to establish a characteristic mechanism of cooperation in both technology and industry of Solid State Lighting (SSL). Via cooperation, the two sides will be able to complement each other and join hand in achieving the target of founding world leading SSL companies.

Dr. Ruan said that the fast developing SSL industry in China has created immense opportunities for cross-strait cooperation, which will enhance the SSL industry of both sides, creating global business opportunities and founding global level brands.

According to Dr. Ruan, the foundations of the cross-strait cooperation include:
The two sides have already formed a cross-strait SSL working team; have co-studied the SSL industry strategy and set the common work guidance; have worked together in promoting the research on SSL product standards and construction of product system; co-compiled two issues of the Year Book of China’s SSL Industry Development; have co-held the SSL forums and formed a communication and cooperation platform; have reached six consensus on cooperation and agreed on five future cooperation areas

And the following areas will be focused in the further cooperation:
First, the two sides will form a common working team to set up working plans and communication mechanism

  • National Development and Reform Commission will form a coordination working team for the Cross-strait LED lighting cooperation project;

Second, the two sides will set up a routine information exchange mechanism

  • Co-establish a solid state lighting date base (covering policy, industry and market information)
  • Co-publish the Yearbook of China’s Solid State Lighting Industry Development
  • Co-hold the Cross-strait Solid State Lighting Forum
  • Co-conduct in talent exchange and training

Third, the two sides will cooperate in setting common standards and criterions for SSL products;
Releasing the testing results of SSL products

  • Studying and establishing the testing methods and specifications of SSL products;
  • Carrying out sampling and testing work of Taiwan’s SSL products;

Fourth, both sides will enhance exchanging and cooperation in technology
Fifth, the two sides will cooperate in the SSL demonstration projects and the demonstration district constructions.
