GILE 2015 Explores Light and Living

The main theme of the 20th Edition Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE 2015) which runs from June 9-12, 2015 was “exploring light and living.”

Following the proliferation of smart living, the function of “light” has become much more than luminaires illuminating a space. The lighting industry’s shared purpose has become finding ways to improve people’s living quality. “Exploring light of people’s lives” was one of the main themes at this year’s show, which will be discussing human centric lighting concepts, lighting quality, and wireless technology. Intertwined these lighting fields comprise the future blue print for the lighting industry.

Manufacturers that attended the lighting show also showcased their latest LED technologies and solutions for LED wafer, LED chips, LED package, modules, drivers, controllers, measurement devices, thermal dissipation, and other equipment. The showground this year set up a new display area for LED material, equipment and accessories.

Major LED chip and package manufacturers that attended the show included Samsung, Lextar, Seoul Semiconductor, Lumileds, Everlight, Epistar, Edison Opto and Hongliopto. Other LED driver, equipment, and material manufacturers that attended the show included Mean Well, Instrument Systems, Nytex Composites and Macroblock.

Renowned figures from the industry attended the opening ceremony on June 9, 2015. This year has been an extraordinary year for the lighting industry, as it undergoes rapid developments, and luminaires evolve from illumination devices to today’s digitalized and smart lighting systems, said Wenbo Pan, Chairman and founder of The Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition during the opening ceremony.

The show this year attracted some 2,996 manufacturers from 28 regions to attend. The size of the lighting show set another new record this year, expanding to 24,500 square meters and covering 21 exhibition halls. In addition, the show has also organized forums that discuss and highlight LED designs, market trends, and offer a platform for experts to exchange their knowledge on the latest technology and explore the infinite possibilities of lighting.
