Compared to Singapore’s economic role as a hub, the Thailand-based LED exhibition emphasizes more on creating business opportunities for local manufacturers and international ones. Buyers are mainly local Thai manufacturers, foreign investors that focus on southeast Asian market as well as district distributors. Quite a few buyers are based in Vietnam and Singapore. One of Japan’s largest lighting exhibitions to be kicked off in 2016, Lighting Japan, will take place on Jan. 13, 2016 this year at Tokyo Big Sight. The show will offer a comprehensive overview of the latest global LED lighting trends in 2016, and new technology developments.

The world’s second largest decorative luminaire lighting show, The Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), kicked off on Oct. 27 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. In its 17th year, the four day lighting show was mainly split into two themes “The Hall of Aurora” and “World of Outdoor Lighting and Lighting Accessories.”

The four-day LED Expo Thailand 2015 lighting show organized by the Ministry of Energy, Electricity Generating Authority Thailand (EGAT), IMPACT Exhibition Management, MEX Exhibitions is positioned to becoming an exhibition platform for LED investors in the ASEAN region, said organizers.

Taiwan International Lighting Show 2015 (TILS 2015) will be featuring its first OLED platform and a lighting design zone, said organizers during the opening ceremony at TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall today.

OLED lighting is finally being mass produced as manufacturers gain more market experience and prices fall. At the 5th Edition LED/OLED Light Expo, some commercialized OLED lighting applications include medical system lighting, a sector that has attracted a lot of attention from buyers.

This year’s Lighting Japan continued to feature Asian LED technologies, material, equipment and lighting developments that the global industry has been closely following. The exhibition also featured next generation lighting designs including LED and OLED light sources. Some of the advanced application concepts were showcased in better exhibition locations.

A distinctive trend in the Thai LED market reflected at EcoLightTech Asia 2014 was the lack of LED chip, driver and component manufacturers, and the overly dominant presence of LED luminaire manufacturers and traders.

Product designer and founder of Step Design Masahiko Uchiyama speaks about his latest prototype lighting Luna at Lighting Japan 2014, which runs at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan from Jan.15-17.
