Approaching to LED lighting possibilities

It's reported that Purdue University researchers have found a way to reduce some of the cost of creating LED lighting, a find that could lead to more cost-efficient lighting.The research was reported in an article this month in the journal Applied Physical Letters. Timothy Sands, professor of materials engineering, and computer and electrical engineering, led the team that included graduate students Mark H. Oliver, Jeremy L. Schroeder, David A. Ewoldt, Isaac H. Wildeson, Robert Colby, Patrick R. Cantwell and Vijay Rawat, along with assistant professor Eric A. Stach.

It's reported Purdue's Professor Sands and a graduate researcher man the reactor, which produces the first blue LEDs based on a silicon process. The new LEDs promise greater efficiency, longer lifetimes, and much lower costs. Purdue research have developed new production methods which will cut LED lighting costs to about a twentieth of current expenses.

Recently, Toshiba released new LED lights that are shaped like midget reflector and beam lamps.LED-based midget Reflector and Beam Lamps can be used with the existing light bulb sockets without any special adjustment because they have the E26 base. The new lights use Nichia Corp's LED. The light source comes in two types, with one incandescent and the other white. They are expected to be used as the illumination lighting for signboards, facilities and shops.
