OSRAM has filed legal actions against Samsung group companies and LG group companies in the US and Germany as well as against an LG group company in Japan. Based on its conviction that these companies, respectively, infringe fundamental patent rights, OSRAM will also file a suit against LG in China tomorrow. With this move OSRAM intends to enforce its patents on Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology.

Vizio, the U.S.-based sales arm for Taiwan Amtran Technology has signed a patent cross-licensing agreement with LG to reconcile over a years-long patent infringement dispute. Under the agreement, the two companies will settle all lawsuits they have filed in the U.S. and help to invalidate orders already made by International Trade Commission. It’s announced that LG will unveil the world's largest 72-inch full LED 3D TV at Consumer Electronics Show 2010 starting January 6. This full LED 3D TV boasts of Smart TV feature that pulls premium content like video on demand and App Store. LG has rolled out two new lines of HDTVs , called the LW9500 and LW7700 Nano Full LED TV series that use its new Nano Lighting Technology which refers to LG's new method of using LEDs in HDTVs, as well as a new sound bar with six speaker drivers and a separate wireless subwoofer.   LG's Nano LED TVs embed the LEDs behind the LCD panel in a thin film that disperses the light across the set.

LG has launched its new E90 monitor at just 7.2 mm in depth, the company's slimmest LED monitor so far. The E90 has a response time of just 2 milliseconds, which can remains clear and bright even during fast-moving action sequences. LG Electronics starts to sell 10 LED LCD TVs, including three premium FULL LED LCD TVs with 42, 47 and 55 inch screens and seven edge-lit LED LCD models with screen sizes ranging from 22 to 42 inches in Japan from November 19. Over 60 retail stores in major cities such as Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya will adopt LG TV models. LG Kicks off to roll out the world's largest commercial 3D LED-backlit TV . It has released 72-inch 72LEX9 widescreen in Korea with a 480Hz True Motion panel, DLNA connectivity, and now-typical support for plenty of online sites and programs such as YouTube. It's reported that this behemoth of a display is poised to ship during the second quarter of 2011. However,the  prices are still not disclosed.

LG Electronics has launched a 72-inch 3-D-equipped LED TV in the South Korea market. The new LED TV model features the largest screen among the 3-D LED TVs available in the market. The new product is priced at 20 million won (US$17,825). According to the company spokesman Park Young-shin, the 72-inch TV will be launched in the global market early in 2011.

LG has released the Xnote A510 3D, which is considered as the "world's first" near full HD 3D laptop. The Xnote A510 is capable of converting 2D content into 3D. LG also includes a pair of clip-on 3D lenses for "regular glasses-wearers."

South Korea LG Electronic schedules to take at least a 10 per cent share in Japan's LED TV market within three years.

South Korea’s LG will be showing off its latest slim 31-inch OLED TV at 2010 IFA Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin.

In early 2009, after Samsung invested a large budget in promoting the new concept of LED TV, the market witnessed a surge in the replacement of new generation television. According to LEDinside’s latest market trend report, the total shipment of LED-backlit TVs in 2009 was about 3.5 million sets. Of that, Samsung was on the top with more than 70% share; followed by Sharp and LG. Notably, in the first wave of LED-backlit TV competition, shipment ratio of the two Korean companies accounted for 80% of the total.

LG Electronics (LG), a major player in the global flat panel display and AV markets, unveiled its plans to achieve the top global position in the TV market with a fundamental shift in the way viewers consume content, from simply watching TV to “using TV”.

LG said it plans to give a push to its LED TV sales by launching more advanced versions of it in 2010 and expects to sell up to 300 thousand units by the end of 2010. Amitabh Tiwari, LG Electronics India Head of Sales, said "LED TV is one of the focused areas of the company. We will launch more advanced ones in the first half of 2010." He said the company expects the segment to contribute about 20 percent of its turnover by the end of 2010. At present, LED TVs account for less than four percent of its overall sales.

Eastman Kodak Company announced Dec. 4 that it would sell substantially all the assets associated with its OLED business to a group of LG companies, and had entered into a technology cross-license agreement with LG Electronics, Inc., which will allow each company broad access to the other’s patent portfolio.
