Philips has started to sell $60 LED energy-efficient light bulb on Earth Day in US. The bulb lasts about 20 years and is supposed to give off natural-looking light but it comes with an expensive price tag, the Associated Press reported. According the BBC, the bulb "swaps filaments for light-emitting diodes to provide illumination." The components cost a bit more to produce than the average bulb. As Earth Day is around the corner, The Home Depot has prepared to sell Philips LED 60-watt replacement bulb for celebration in New York City. The Philips LED 60-watt replacement bulb uses just 10 watts of energy, has the same color quality as standard incandescent lights and lasts for over a whopping 25 years. China Electric Mfg. Corp. has intended to roll out 7.5W LED light bulbs retailed below NT$400 (US$13 at US$1:NT$30) sometime in April. The price range represents a huge markdown from NT$500 (US$16) for 7W bulbs it launched in 2011, as well as a 25% cut from the price of the first batch of 7.5W bulbs it introduced previously. UK-based clean tech firm Zeta Controls has developed an aluminium cage fitted with small LEDs that are positioned to diffuse light in the same way as a 60W incandescent bulb while using just 9W of energy.
