Nichia has announced that WOFI (Leuchten Wortmann & Filz), Everlight’s German subsidiary has withdrawn its appeal against the judgment of the Düsseldorf District Court concerning the YAG patent EP 936 682 (DE 697 02 929) of Nichia.

On August 31, 2015, Nichia Corporation ("Nichia") filed a patent infringement lawsuit in Germany at the District Court Düsseldorf against the Germany-based manufacturer of residential lighting products WOFI Leuchten Wortmann & Filz GmbH ("WOFI").

LED package manufacturer Everlight has been actively developing their LED lighting brand, according to the Economic Daily News. The company merged with Germany luminaire manufacturer WOFI for less than NT $400 million (US $13.3 million) last year, which adds an extra NT $100 million to its monthly revenues. Everlight has recently announced plans to acquire another European luminaire manufacturer this year to continue expanding the company’s market presence. 

Taiwan LED packaging manufacturer Everlight continues to deepen its channel presence in China. According to UBS Securities Co. Limited’s report, Everlight will continue expanding its 7 provincial sales channels in the second half of 2013. Even though general lighting demand growth remains strong, the continued drop in price adds pressure to revenue growth. UBS believes that the company still needs to devote more investment into its own lighting product strategy, though this will also lead to pressure on gross profit margin and operating income performance.
