Everlight’s WOFI Withdraws Appeals, Nichia Again Confirms Its YAG Patent

Nichia has announced that WOFI (Leuchten Wortmann & Filz), Everlight’s German subsidiary has withdrawn its appeal against the judgment of the Düsseldorf District Court concerning the YAG patent EP 936 682 (DE 697 02 929) of Nichia.

WOFI is a manufacturer of residential lighting products and a German subsidiary of Taiwanese LED manufacturer Everlight. Nichia has filed a patent infringement suit regarding twelve white LED products of WOFI. On July 4th 2017, the Düsseldorf District Court rendered the judgment in favor of Nichia’s claims for permanent injunction, also rendering of accounts and damages. The judgment was not final yet by then but since WOFI withdrew its appeals on October 1st, the judgment of the District Court has become final.
