The library is with 3,600 intelligent bookshelves provided by LED iBond, a lighting company in Demark. These customized "smart" bookshelves with advanced LED optics and IoT functionality enable light to be directed to books, objects, and magazines. The settings are controlled by NFC (Near Field Communication) technology via mobile devices, so staffs can manage the lighting through their tablets and mobile phones.
The new Deichman library in Bjørvika, Oslo, is expected to welcome over two million visitors each year. The public now has access to the library containing the bespoke, intelligent lighting solution.
Henrik Fabricius, Sales Director at LED iBond, commented on the opening and installation, “We have spent many development hours on this project and are actually quite proud of the outcome for one of the most technologically advanced multimedia libraries in Europe. I believe this solution can be used in many international shelf applications apart from libraries such as in retail, offices and more.”
