Finnish wireless lighting control expert Casambi provided its technology to support a Sedus, an office equipment supplier based in Germany, to create office lighting which helps to enhance well-being of users.
Sedus opened its new office building in Dogern, Germany in April 2019 which the company aimed to build an open office to demonstrate a smart working place of the future. Based on the concept, the office equips flexible and smart solutions to provide ideal setting for concentration and collaboration. Lighting thus plays a critical role in the smart office.

With smart control supplied by Casambi, lighting in Sedus office continuously change intensity and color temperature with time, as daylight changes during the day and from season to season. This continuous, non-synchronized movement of small groups of luminaires at very short intervals (such as every 8 minutes), results in a total sense of well-being for those who work in the space, as every slightest light color that is determined is captured by the skin and eyes as in a real forest.
RGBW luminaires together with tunable white and natural light create different lighting situations that mimics natural lights covering sunset, sunrise, cloudy weather, twinkle and reflection. The temporal dynamics are defined by the sequences of Fibonacci numbers. The project facilitates the circadian rhythm and is experimental in its temporal dynamics of light change.
Casambi’s wireless lighting control enable Sedus to set programs for each single space and room in the smart office and to define both a daily as well as a seasonal dynamic change of the light color and color temperature of light.
