Apple’s reported plans to integrate Micro LED into future Apple Watch models has reignited interest in field of micro-display. Aiming to seize burgeoning opportunities from various micro-display applications, companies involved in the display industry are now ramping up efforts to develop and promote related products.

As TrendForce points out in its latest report, “2023 Micro LED Market Trend and Technology Cost Analysis,” Apple’s launch of a new Apple Watch with Micro LED display, along with the related component demand, will drive the growth of the Micro LED market. The report forecasts that the market value for Micro LED chips used in the displays of wearable devices will see a huge surge, reaching US$172 million and US$463 million in 2024 and 2025 respectively. The release of the new Apple Watch with Micro LED display will encourage other electronics to invest in the development and promotion of wearable devices featuring a similar display technology. Therefore, TrendForce also projects that the market value will increase at a robust CAGR of 873% from 2022 to 2027.
