April has been a good month for LED manufacturers this year, as companies benefit from strong market demand, according to Economic Daily News report. Manufacturers including Epistar, Edison Opto, and Unity Opto have all seen record high performances in April. Industry insiders anticipate the positive revenue performance will continue into May.
April revenue for LED chip manufacturer Epistar reached NT $2.51 billion (US $83.5 million), up 5 percent from March and growth of 30 percent YoY. May revenue is anticipated to reach a record high for the company. There are currently strong demands, and the outlook for May is rather positive, said Epistar. However, shipments conditions will determine whether revenues will increase.
Secondary optics manufacturer Edison Opto revealed a return in revenue growth in 1Q14. April 2014 revenue was NT $122 million, an increase of 2.5 percent from March and a YoY growth of 23.79 percent. Legal persons estimate that growth from peak season last year will drive 1Q14 revenue up at least 30 percent from 1Q14.
April consolidated revenue for LED package manufacturer Unity Opto was NT $800 million, up 14.8 percent YoY, the highest in 18 months. Backlight products in 2Q14 continue to rise, said Unity Opto. The company estimates quarterly growth to reach at least double digits. Unity Opto is also optimistic that LED lighting product penetration rate will boom in the next two years.
Unity Opto anticipates 2Q14 performance to continue flourishing, due to consumer market acceptance of CRI LED backlight products, injections from TV orders by large international brands, and new orders from large Japanese manufacturers.
