On the occasion of the Light+Building light fair, the Osram stand will be showing project partners how to further exploit the possibilities of light with lighting systems, light projects and various solutions and services. Light+Building is the leading light fair, taking place from 30 March to 4 April in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Osram is located at Light+Building in Hall 2 ("Alte Festhalle").

Intelligent light for home and office use: Lightify
With the Lightify lighting system from Osram, dealers and installers are given a product for their customers that enable almost all possibilities with light to be exploited using a smartphone app – an artificial sunrise in the morning, a relaxing mood during evening hours or the green of a spring meadow. The system is able to identify Lightify-compliant light sources and integrate these automatically into the lighting system, both at home and in offices. Lightify can also be simply integrated into existing WLAN networks. It configurates and maintains itself automatically. The complete portfolio ranges from light in corridors, living rooms and professional lighting in offices to outdoors with terraces and gardens.
Projects and solutions: Lenbachhaus
Osram demonstrates how lighting solutions are ideally implemented in museums with the "projects and solutions" area, with the example of the Lenbachhaus art museum in Munich. More than 170,000 light emitting diodes and intelligent light control enable almost 100 different color tones and dimming levels to be set, ranging from morning red-similar warm white to daylight-similar cool white. Curators are thus able to display each work of art in their ideal light. The LED solution is also especially conservational for the art, among other factors because LED emits no infrared and ultraviolet spectral components. The solution in the Lenbachhaus Museum was also the model for lighting in the Sistine Chapel in Rome that will soon be displaying the building's world-famous frescoes. Many other renowned museums are now highly interested in this innovative lighting concept.
Services: Supporting LED experts with lighting solutions
In the "LED light for you" network, Osram together with partners has provided expertise for many years with regard to LED optics, thermal management and electronics, in this way providing support for the planning and implementation of lighting systems. Customer support is now being expanded with the PASS service, an abbreviation for Premium Application Support Service. This gives lighting planners and luminaire manufacturers direct access via the internet to Osram application support, systems and laboratories for their project planning phases.
Energy efficiency: Energy audits and conversion to LED tubes
Osram provides energy audits for the energy-related modernization of existing buildings, for example industrial halls. The energy audits analyze which savings are possible when upgrading a lighting installation. A simple modernization option is frequently the conversion of old T8 fluorescent tubes with standard ballasts to modern "Substitube" LED tubes from Osram. These LED tubes are installed without rewiring, slash electricity overheads by more than 50% and are especially suitable for logistics areas and car parks for example.

With Prevaled Flex Linear Osram presents an alternative to fluorescent lamps. (photo courtesy of Osram) |
Design and installation: Prevaled Flex Linear
With the Prevaled Flex Linear, Osram presents an LED light engine that significantly cuts work effort for the assembly of LED luminaires and therefore costs as well. The background is that at the moment, many luminaires are produced in two versions: one with fluorescent lamps and the other with LEDs. While fluorescent lamps are easily mounted using lamp sockets, LED assembly requires much greater effort, as several modules need to be screw-fastened because they are usually significantly shorter. Prevaled Flex Linear solves this problem, being supplied on a 28 meter roll with shortening by the luminaire manufacturer to the desired length. It is then for example simply bonded into the luminaire. Assembly thus becomes similarly simple to the fluorescent lamp equivalent. Because of its pliable design, Prevaled Flex Linear also establishes new options for designing luminaires – for example organically-shaped luminaires with high energy efficiency levels so typical for LEDs.
