Greenled Oy , the leading Finnish manufacturer and supplier of all-inclusive LED lighting solutions, has won the contract to supply street lighting for the City of Helsinki. The request for tenders emphasized energy efficiency, high quality optics and durable design. In the first phase of the Helsinki LED project Greenled is set to deliver 1 700 Sirius outdoor luminaires to enlighten the Finnish capital. Launched in April 2015, Sirius is an innovative Finnish made LED luminaire that combines advanced lighting technology and robust design.

Demand for Greenled’s energy-efficient lighting solutions is growing rapidly on the global market. ”The decision Helsinki made serves to reinforce our confidence in our ability to provide the most advanced LED luminaires on the market. The market share for LED luminaires is estimated to rise up to 70% of the global lighting market by the year 2019. The ongoing transition from traditional light sources to LED-based lighting solutions supports strongly Greenled’s mission to promote Finnish technology abroad. The steadily growing market share of LED luminaires within the EU is further facilitated by several factors, including recent development of regulation, such as the EU Energy Efficiency Directive and several major retailers banning the sales of incandescent light bulbs. The value of the global LED lighting market was estimated at over 6 billion euros in 2014 and the potential for future growth remains significant, as, for example, only a relatively small proportion of outdoor lighting is currently covered with LED luminaires.
