Manitowoc Public Utilities’s LED Holiday Lighting Contest to Encourage Energy Saving

Manitowoc Public Utilities has announced the first-ever LED Holiday Lighting Contest to encourage the use of energy-efficient holiday decorations. The contest is open to all customers of MPU, and requires all lighting must consist of LED lights only.

The entries will be divided into four categories: large displays (more than 5,000 individual lights); medium displays (1,000 to 5,000 lights); small displays (less than 1,000 lights); and most innovative (illuminated displays using less than 50 individual lights). In each category, entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, overall theme and the ability to attract attention.

Each entrant will receive a complimentary string of LED holiday lights for participating. Prizes consisting of Chamber Bucks will be awarded to the top three entries in each category. Chamber Bucks are accepted at a wide variety of local businesses. All entries must be received by Dec. 9. Winners will be announced and prizes awarded the week of Dec. 19.
