Ruud Lighting to Contributes LED Luminaires to New YMCA

According to the Racine Family YMCA, Ruud Lighting will donate more than $300,000 lighting fixtures and related equipment for the new suburban YMCA located on the Mount Pleasant civic campus.

Ruud Chairman and CEO Alan Ruud said in a news release that most of the lighting products are LED luminaires that will provide "significant energy savings and reduce operating expenses." LED technology delivers an estimated 30-60 percent reduction in energy consumption compared to traditional technologies, with virtually no maintenance. It also complies with LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, certification requirements.

With the donation, the fundraising campaign has raised more than $8.3 million toward its goal. The YMCA is now estimated to cost $14 million.
