Coney Island , LED Light Project in Parachute Jump

 

At the start of summer, outgoing Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Coney Island amusement park officials will toss the switch on a makeover of the iconic Parachute Jump, which is so bright it can be seen from space.

The amusement area’s main ride operator has installed and will maintain the $2 million space-age LED lighting scheme on Coney’s tallest structure. The 8,000 colored lights replaced the 450 lights in the old, Design will be programmable with funky rhythmic displays for shows and concerts. So that the tower can put on colorful, pulsating light shows — similar to the Eiffel Tower.
