Austriamicrosystems introduces AS3676

Austriamicrosystems AS3676 is a light management unit, which is available in flexible power management for LEDs. It fits for portable devices and highlights ALS and DLS.

Below are the main features:

The AS3676 chip incorporates 13 current sinks, a high-efficiency step-up DC-DC converter and high-power charge-pump, an analog-to-digital converter and a programmable low drop-out regulator.

The integration of the main illumination features facilitates controlling all mobile lighting with a single chip, simplifying hardware and software development and reducing the time to market.

It's suitable for a number of portable consumer electronic products, such as mobile phones, mobile TV's, mobile DVD players, mobile GPS devices, and MP3 players.

As both ALS and DLS are supported by the chip, power conservation via automatic adjustment of backlighting and other LED function is also significantly simplified.

Built-in features like automatic dimming, pattern generation and audio sync function provides eye catching visual effects with minimum load on the baseband processor. The chip operates at a wide 3.0 to 5.5 V supply range, and over a temperature range of -30 to +85 degrees C.

The AS3676 LMU is available in a CS-WLP30, 3mm x 2.5mm package, priced at US$2.40 in 1,000-unit quantities.
