Panasonic has announced a host of 4K-enabled devices and technologies for the European market that will completely change the way users are able to capture, share and view content in stunning Ultra High Definition quality. From TVs and Blu-Ray Disc Players to cameras, camcorders and 4K SD cards, Panasonic has used its strength and experience in image research and development to launch a new 4K Ultra HD (UHD) era.
Panasonic’s end-to-end 4K expertise enables photographers and videographers to create and record stunningly immersive and realistic cinematic worlds, full of detail and true color; as well as providing the connectivity options and screen technology to enable the most dramatic and impactful home entertainment experiences.
With UHD resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, four times as many pixels as a conventional Full HD device, Panasonic’s new 4K UHD VIERA AX802 series provide unprecedented picture quality, sharpness and color, enabling content to be experienced exactly as the movie directors intended. Technologies such as HDMI 2.0, new 4K compatible SD cards and 4K up-scaling make it easier than ever to capture the highest quality content on the likes of Panasonic‘s new LUMIX GH4 and A500 cameras, and also to enjoy both native and up-scaled 4K content via a selection of Blu-Ray and Home Theatre devices. Panasonic has also announced an addition to its 4K Ultra HD series, the AX902, and further details about this series will be available later this year.

4K Ultra HD in your living room
Panasonic’s 4K UHD TV the VIERA AX802 series, are designed to provide an intense and immersive cinematic experience in your home. Boasting 4K resolution and advanced image processing, the series maximize image quality for both native 4K and non-4K content, allowing you to see every subtle nuance in exquisite detail. The AX802 also utilizes LCD panels equipped with a new, high-color-space LED backlight that delivers colors which are truly faithful to the original.
The quality of Panasonic’s 4K TVs is already being acknowledged by the industry – THX recently awarded the AX802 with the coveted THX 4K Display certificate for excellent image quality, achieving perfect color reproduction exactly as movie directors intend when re-mastering their films.
The ultimate in 4K connectivity
Along with Panasonic’s 4K compatible Blu-ray Disc Player, the BDT700, the UHD TV series are equipped with the HDMI 2.0 port, which allows 4K content to be transmitted at a blistering 60 frames per second (FPS). Consequently, the AX802 series are the ultimate choice for consumers looking to access the next level in home entertainment, as well as professionals for whom picture quality is imperative.
In addition to HDMI 2.0 port, the AX802 series are also equipped with a DisplayPort terminal. Able to transmit 4K signals at 50/60Hz without any reduction in color or frame rate performance, this means that gamers can easily connect their PC via the 60p-capable DisplayPort and enjoy the latest games in extremely high detail and motion clarity.
Photography enthusiasts can also enjoy their pictures on the 4K Photo Viewer or via the 4K Swipe & Share function accessed by the Panasonic TV Remote 2 App on their tablet or smartphone. The VIERA 4K UHD TV also supports 4K video playback from USB, SD card or online sources as they are compatible with the new HEVC (High Efficiency Video Codec) format, which is ideally suited for ultra-high resolution video content.
Capture the highest quality content
Panasonic is also celebrating the launch of its latest 4K-enabled camera and wearable camcorder, the LUMIX DMC-GH4 and HX-A500 respectively. Both devices are designed to help you capture unique moments on-the-go, in stunning 4K UHD picture quality.
With the LUMIX DMC-GH4, Panasonic has removed the gap between consumer and professional video cameras, creating its most advanced and high specification Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) interchangeable lens camera to date. Capable of 4K video with a bitrate of 100 Mbps (IPB), videographers are now able to realize their vision in UHD resolution.
Lightweight, compact, and easy to attach to your body or head, the HX-A500 takes 4K UHD shooting to a new level of portability. Regardless of its compact size and lightweight design, the HX-A500 delivers stunning results, even when you’re shooting scenes with fast motion. Enabled by a new high speed and intelligent image processor, the Crystal Engine Pro+, the HX-A500 provides 4K video recording at 25p FPS.
With incredibly fast reading and writing capabilities, the two new additions to Panasonic’s gold series SDUC memory card line-up facilitate a seamless 4K photography and videography experience. The SDXC and SDHC UHS-I models can be used for unlimited 4K video recording in MOV/MP4 format and are also capable of ultra-high bitrate video recording at 200 Mbps (ALL-Intra) or 100 Mbps (IPB). These features ensure you can maintain beautiful, high-quality video without the dropouts caused by insufficient writing speed.
