Altec Lansing Launches Colorful Smart LED Bulbs

The new Sphere 360 Party Speaker is a portable Bluetooth sound system from Altec Lansing that adds color to consumers' music experiences by combining 360-degree surround sound with a full-body LED light spectacle that can shimmer and shift in four different modes. The resulting sight and sound extravaganza makes the Sphere 360 both the life and the lights of the party – wherever it may be.

A softball-sized speaker that resembles a disco ball when lit, the Sphere 360 delivers big omnidirectional sound in a small package with four 1.5" neodymium drivers for rich high frequency reproduction, a 4.5" down firing ported driver for crisp bass response, Altec Lansing's enhanced digital signal processing technology for studio-quality playback, and enough headroom to avoid distortion at higher volumes.

Pair it wirelessly with any Bluetooth-enabled device for a 50-foot signal range with voice confirmation when the connection is made, or plug it into a device via the built-in aux port. Either way, it will deliver enough volume to rock the house.

A honeycomb-like covering lets the Sphere 360's light displays shine through, and lighting patterns can be changed with the press of a button located on top of the speaker.  Options include a fixed color mode in which the entire ball glows with a single color, a scrolling mode in which a single color moves around the circumference of the speaker, a meet-and-greet mode where one color slowly moves from the top and bottom until it converges in the middle and flashes before switching to a new color, and a rapid rainbow mode where the entire ball changes from one color to another in quick succession.

The Sphere 360 has a 10-hour battery life even when both the sound and the light show are playing, and recharges via the built-in Micro USB port.  It also has an on-board mic that can be used as a speakerphone so users don't have to disconnect their device from the speaker when receiving a call.

The Altec Lansing Sphere 360 Party Speaker will ship in spring 2015 with a carrying pouch, cables and power adapter at an MSRP of $149.99.
