LIA Supports UK ‘Switch the Lights’ campaign

The LIA has been working closely with the Green Construction Board and British Retail Consortium to develop a campaign aimed at encouraging independent and small to medium sized retailers to switch to LED lighting installations.

Whilst there is no doubt that the message is understood very well by major retailers the independent sector is slower to adopt this technology and the BRC is concerned that it’s members are missing out on huge energy savings.

The ‘Switch the Lights’ Campaign will be launched in a series of workshops around the country over the next 3 months where retailers will hear from industry experts, hear about best practice case studies, tour shopping centre venues and come away with energy saving tips.

There are specific issues for smaller independent retailers in refurbishing their lighting systems and the campaign aims to inform this large sector to enable them to benefit from the enormous energy saving opportunity’ said Peter Hunt, The LIA, COO
