Excelite Plastics Releases a New Reflective White Polycarbonate for LED Applications

The lighting industry has transformed over the past decade. The end users are ever looking for energy efficient systems. They ready to invest billions of dollars to acquire such equipment.

The LED is one of those systems gaining popularity due to their energy efficiency. They have become popular in offices, living rooms and in the automotive industry. The lighting specialists have been designing cost-effective solutions to meet the end users demands such as light diffusion panels and reflective panels. It is through this that they’ve been able to optimize the light output.

Excelite Plastics Ltd. has invested in quite a number of reflective and light diffuser polycarbonate sheets. Through this, the lighting professionals have been able to deliver energy efficient and design friendly systems. Investing in this industry is basically geared towards making this product accessible to thousands of families within Asia.

Investing in the LED system is part of this company’s efforts to diversify in the polymer production and fabrication industry. In the past, the company was known for the glazing sheets production. The production of different configurations of glazing sheets such as textured, embossed and prismatic sheets.

This is not a pilot project since the company has some of the best light guide panels. They are used with the LED systems. This is not a totally new project since the company had designed glazing sheets that could actually optimize the use of natural light through light diffusion.

The new reflective polycarbonate panels are carefully designed to guarantee high standards of diffusive and reflectivity. This eliminates the hectic process of processing polycarbonate sheets. This may involve secondary operations which are expensive. Some of the key considerations include the following:

  1. The flame retardant grades; the Excelite’s polycarbonate sheets meet the UL94 flame class rating. They are UV stable. It is for this reason that these reflective sheets are used for a number of outdoor applications. These polycarbonates can maintain their properties even at elevated temperatures.
  2. They are tested to meet the required impact resistant according to the company and the SGS standards. The testing facility within the industry has one of the best testing equipment. This ensures quality production of various LED products.
  3. The ability to offer over 96% reflectance has been another selling point for these polycarbonate products.  They can be used for reflector housing, end plates for automotive, luminaires, etc.

So far, this company has been able to meet the end user requirement by producing sheets, which meet the optical requirements for a number of applications. These products are designed to balance between design flexibility, efficiency and aesthetic appearance.

“Our new reflective and diffusive polycarbonate sheets are key to our new venture into the LED industry,” said Sunny, the Excelite Plastic Ltd. Marketing Director. “We believe that by working together with our consumers and development partners, the company will be able to transform the LED industry by incorporating polycarbonate and acrylic products,” he added.

The company is yet to introduce other new products in the market. They’ll focus on the LED lighting and advertising systems. This has been attributed to the high demand for the existing light diffuser polycarbonate and light guide panels.

Excelite Plastics Ltd. was established in 2001 and it is one of the leading suppliers of polycarbonate products within Asia. It has been working closely with other companies such as Lexan and Makrolon polycarbonate resin suppliers.
