In an effort to advance the lighting industry, executives from Hubbell Lighting will take an active role in the Department of Energy's (DOE) 13th annual SSL R&D Workshop being held on February 2-4, 2016 in Raleigh, N.C.
SSL technology has the potential to reduce U.S. lighting energy usage by nearly one half and contribute significantly to climate change solutions. The DOE is seen as a catalyst driving R&D breakthroughs in efficiency and performance and equipping buyers to successfully apply SSL lighting.
Douglas Hamilton, Hubbell Lighting's director of research and development, participated in the DOE Roundtable discussion on September 10, 2015, which helped set the agenda for the upcoming Workshop. In this year's Workshop, experts and thought leaders from universities, labs and companies will discuss the latest SSL advances, examine market forces that are shaping SSL technology and explore how the technology is defining new market opportunities. Participants can expect robust discussion about best practices, advances and challenges related to controls, reliability, large-scale integration and color quality.
Warren Weeks, Hubbell Lighting's director, innocation and techonology for SSL, will participate in a presentation and panel discussion about the challenge related to quantifying SSL system reliability. Hubbell Lighting is focused on predictve reliability and lifetime models for LED drivers. He wil share Hubbell Lighting's approach to LED driver reliability that is mutually-beneficial with customer's interests in mind.
Hubbell Lighting, a global leader in lighting innocation, is focused on enhancing the quality of the light through performance and control. The organization sees value in participating in the DOE's strategic initiatives to promote core technology research, product development and manufacturing R&D. By 2025, the DOE's R&D goal is to develop advanced SSL technologies that will last longer, be more energy efficient and be cost completive to incumbent technologies.
This aligns with Hubbell Lighting's strategic initiatives, and the company sees value in helping guide the DOE's roadmap for success so that the industry as a whole can realize its full potential.
